Special Conference of ICAPP kicks off in Xi’an

A Special conference of ICAPP kicks off in Xi’an on May 30. Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao attended the opening ceremony and met the delegates. He pointed out, peace, development and common prosperity are the world trend and people’s aspirations. All Asian parties play the role of keeper for ever-lasting peace in Asia, pioneer of common development, promoter of friendly cooperation and advocate of mutual benefit among Asian countries.

Vice-chairperson of National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and head of International Department of CPC Central Committee Wang Jiarui also attended the opening ceremony and met delegates from foreign countries.

Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapakse, Laotian Vice President Boungnang Vorachit, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sok An, Co-chairman of Standing Committee  of ICAPP José De Venecia made speeches. Secretary-General of UN Ban Ki-moon made a video speech.

Running under the theme of "Promote green development and build a beautiful Asia together," the two-day conference has attracted representatives from about 50 political parties from Asian countries. About 200 people from Latin American and African parties are also participating as observers.

Li said, China and other Asian countries are a community with a common destiny of peace and development. Asian political parties should seek sustainable peace in Asia, common development, friendly cooperation as well as mutual benefit and win-win situation, said Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao while addressing the event's opening ceremony. Green development is the trend of world development and a new platform for cooperation among political parties. Asian countries should attach importance to environmental protection, energy reservation and reasonable consumption to build a beautiful Asia together.
