IESCO Special Conference on Nutrition and Health Convenes

 (Comprehensive News Reported by IESCO reporter Lu Yueqi, Translated by Zhang Ning) On July 2nd, IESCO Special Conference on Nutrition and Health was convened in Dalian International Conference Center. A total of about two thousand people attended the conference to discuss the issues of water safety and water health under the current climate condition. Experts from around the world and representatives from local authorities and enterprises put forward their proposals for the construction of “sponge cities” and classification of domestic water. Based on the principle that “scientific technology is a guide for ecological water safety and innovation benefits the comprehensive water health of human”, a new idea on ecological and life safety cooperation was put forward to create a guarantee system for water ecological safety with the general health industry.

On the basis of the strategic and technological cooperation reached at the 2nd International Conference on Ecological Safety and Human Health (Ji’nan) on March 31st, 2016, business representatives accelerated the comprehensive transformation of scientific achievement in fields of energy conservation, health and environmental protection and made efforts to create a comprehensive guarantee system for ecological safety and human health.

This conference was co-hosted by Healthy China Filial Love Foundation for Medical and Senior Care of China Health and Medical Development Foundation and International Ecological Safety Collaborative Organization. At the conference, participants highly recommended a new type of ecological water cycle system. It is reported that water cycle balance within residential area is mainly divided into “domestic water cycle system” and “rainwater cycling system”. Domestic water cycle system is mainly for the recycling of water of different water quality. For instance, rainwater is collected to be used in an organic farm or water in sink, shower room and washing machine is collected and purified by a wetland system, and then discharged into the land for reuse. Finally, the sewage will be discharged into a sewage treatment plant. A rainwater cycle system applies low-impact development techniques (LID) and forms a sound water cycle system with facilities such as permeable pavements, ecological drains, rainwater gardens, underground piping systems and ecological grass ditches.

According to the professionals present at the conference, sustainable urban rainwater system has become the mainstream of sustainable urban development. Due to urbanization and global climate change, many countries and regions are facing problems such as water shortage, water pollution and water ecological degradation. A global consensus has been reached that rainwater is a type of exploitable resource. In this regard, experts in this field will make active exploration and useful attempts.
