International Ecological Safety Collaborative Organization (IESCO) is a global international organization initiated by China and founded by sovereign states. It purposes to promote ecological civilization construction, construct ecological safety setup, reduce climate change risks, protect natural resources and ecological safety, and advocate peace, reconciliation and green governance to achieve the sustainable development of economy, environment and society through cooperation between political parties, parliaments and governments of various countries. Since its establishment, IESCO has been working fruitfully in hosting international conferences and carrying out international exchanges, cooperation and ecological safety research. In 2011, it was granted special consultative status at UN Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) and observer's status at the plenary meeting of UN-ECOSOC. In 2012, IESCO became an advisory institution of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the Permanent Conference of Political Parties of Latin America and the Caribbean (COPPPAL). In 2013, IESCO became a strategic cooperating agency with UN-Habitat and UN Alliance of Civilization.
IESCO has 85 country members now (17 are permanent members).

The 1st World Ecological Safety Assembly

On Dec. 1-5, IESCO, ICAPP, the Royal Government of Cambodia and China Foundation for International Studies convened "The 6th General Assembly of ICAPP" and "The 1st World Ecological Safety Assembly" in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The assemblies appealed to all political parties to include ecological civilization, ecological safety and the strategy of sustainable development in their party platforms; all parliaments to implement legislation on ecology and environment to ensure the security of people's survival and life; all governments to incorporate climate change, ecological construction and sustainable development in their universal education systems. The assemblies adopted "The ICAPP Phnom Penh Declaration" and "The (Angkor) Protocol of World Ecological Safety Assembly". Nearly 1,000 delegates of political parties, parliaments, governments and think tanks from 120 countries attended the assemblies (126 were leaders above vice-ministerial level). Li Yuanchao, the then Member of Secretariat of the Central Committee of CPC and Head of Organization Department of the Central Committee of CPC, attended the assemblies with a Chinese delegation and delivered a key-note speech. 
The chairman of the assemblies was Prime Minister of Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Sen.

The 2nd World Ecological Safety Assembly

On Dec. 7-10, 2012, IESCO, ICAPP, The House of Representatives of Indonesia, Bali Provincial Government of Indonesia and China Foundation for International Studies co-hosted the "The 2nd World Ecological Safety Assembly". Delegates of political parties, parliaments, governments and think tanks from 90 countries as well as experts and scholars, nearly 800 in total, attended the assembly. The assembly adopted "The World Ecological Civilization Declaration and Ecological Safety Action Plan", which was then submitted to the high-level session of the plenary meeting of UN-ECOSOC and voted through at the meeting.
The chairman of the assembly was Speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia Marzuki Alie.
