The 3rd Forum of Ecological Safety, Human Development
and Health Held in Heming Mount, Chengdu

On July 29, in Mount Heming, Chengdu, the 3rd Forum of Ecological Safety, Human Development and Health opened in Taoyuan Holy City, Chengdu. The forum was organized by International Ecological Safety Collaborative Organization, China Foundation for International Studies and World Fellowship of Taoism, co-organized by China Foundation for Peace and Development and China National Culture Exchange Committee, and hosted by Enwei Group, Chengdu, Sichuan. Over 300 guests including government officials, representatives of international organizations, NGOs, experts and entrepreneurs from China, the United States, Nigeria, Nepal, Japan, Malaysia, Mauritius, Samoa, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda attended the opening ceremony.

The two-day forum was another international, high level and authoritative thematic forum after the successful 2011 and 2012 Ecological Safety and Elderly Health Forums. The six major topics were: Healthy Development of Mankind and Dialogue of Civilizations, Taoist Medical Science for Health and Taoist Philosophy,   Taoist Approaches to Health and Taoist Culture, .   Impact of Climate Change on Human and Countermeasures,        Role of Scientific and Technological Innovations in Ecological Construction and    Ecological Safety and Elderly Health

Liu Guchang, Member of the Standing Committee of the 10th and 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and former Vice-Ministry of Foreign Affairs and former Vice Premier and Foreign Minister of Nepal Sujata Koirala (Nepal), Director of the Global Monitoring and Research Division at the UN Human Settlements Program Banji Oyelaran-Oyeyinka (Nigeria), Paul R. Lit Fong Chong Leung (Mauritius), Mauritian Ambassador to China,and  Jiang Mingjun, Director-General of IESCO delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Chen Zongxing, Vice Chairman of the 11th CPPCC and Director of China Ecological Civilization Study and Promotion Society, sent a congratulatory letter to the forum.

During the two-day forum, experts and delegates including Liu Guchang, Member of the Standing Committee of the 10th and 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, former Vice-Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Guo Yuxiang, former Deputy Commander of Jinan Military Region and Air Force Commander of Jinan Military Region, Lieutenant General, Eluzai Moga Yokwe (South Sudan), South Sudanic Ambassador to China, Yusuf Hassan Ibrahim (Somalia), Somalian Ambassador to China and Matsuzaki Hiroshi (Japan), President of Island Nations Federation for Ecological Globe had heated discussion on human health, civilization dialogue, Taoist health preserving, climate change, technological innovation and ecological safety, and  all-rounded, multiple-level and cubic  analysis of the  problems in environment, resource, society and economy and the countermeasures.

In the end, the Consensus (Chengdu) on Ecological Safety, Human Development and Health was adopted by all of the participants. The consensus confirms that Daoism thinking as a pivotal part of Chinese traditional culture has profound ecological wisdom in dealing with the relationship between human and nature and is the prerequisite to achieve harmony between man and nature and global ecological security and the consensus also supports world-wide activities including dialogues among civilizations carried out by World Fellowship of Daoism.
