Tee Ching Seng attended events for 25th years of Kurdish genocide

At the invitation of the department of foreign affairs of the autonomous Kurdistan, Iraq, Tee Ching Seng, Deputy Director-General of IESCO and Youth Conference of Asian Political Parties, attended the commemorative activities held from Mar 13 to 17 in the provincial capital of Arbil in remembering the 1988 Kurdish genocide.

 Mr. Tee also visited the northeastern town of Halabja, which suffered the chemical attack from Saddam Hussein in 1988. The attack claimed 5,000 lives, leaving another 7,000 injured or suffering from long-term illnesses.

The town, located 240 kilometers northeast of Bagdad in the northern region and stretching across the Iraq-Iran border with the population of 57,000, mostly Kurdish, is administrated by the autonomous Kurdistan

About 3,000 attended the event, including 250 government delegates from Europe, Asia and North America.
