Deputy Director-General Tee Ching Seng Attends the ASEAN Countries Nuclear Security Summit

(IESCO) From January 12 to 15, 2014, representatives from Foreign Ministries of ASEAN countries, International Atomic Energy Agency, and relevant international organizations got together in Bali, Indonesia to attend the ASEAN Countries Nuclear Security Summit. This summit was another platform for discussion on global issues such as maintaining nuclear safety, the development of nuclear power and preventing nuclear terrorism after the Hiroshima Nuclear Safety Seminar in June, 2013,. Participants hoped to exchange ideas at the summit to reach general consensus on nuclear safety  and  more detailed programs.

On behalf of IESCO, Tee Ching Seng attended this summit and delivered speeches on Theme One--"The Development of Nuclear Power in Southeast Asia and the Commitment to Nuclear Non-proliferation" and Theme Five--"Social Organizations' Opinion in Nuclear Power as Substitute Energy". He also acted as the debater of Theme One and member of the review team of Theme Five. In his speeches, he explained to various representatives, experts and scholars his understanding of the relation between ecological safety and nuclear safety and the right attitude and actions of international organizations in respect of the development of nuclear power, .

This conference was held jointly by a time-honored American academy  and a most honorable institution. Attendees  included officials from the foreign ministries of ASEAN and governmental institutions of nuclear power and nuclear energy as well as leaders and representatives of international organizations.
